We met Aiden (12), Maleia (9), and Parker (8) in Phoenix, Arizona last year and were so excited to chat with them! Their business is booming, selling over $1000 worth of product at each market! We couldn’t wait to hear all they had to say about running their family business.
CEM: Tell us about your business. How did you first get the idea?
We are 3Deep Designs . . . a 3D printing business that is run by three siblings. It was started when we were learning about 3D printing in our homeschool curriculum. We were very interested by it and wanted to learn more. After attending a homeschool co-op holiday market and selling the products we made on our printer, we knew we had to keep going.
CEM: What supplies and resources did you need to get going? How did you get a hold of them?
We needed a 3D printer, filament, 3D design software, and 3D slicing software to get started. We also took courses on how to do 3D printing. Our Parents gave us a loan for all of our needed equipment and supplies. Since then, we’ve added two more 3D printers which we’ve paid for ourselves from our profits.
CEM: What challenges did you face in your business, and how did you overcome them?
Some of our challenges were learning how to print and troubleshooting the printers. We also needed help reaching out to customers and keeping them coming back. Another challenge was finding markets that would allow us to join them. Children’s Entrepreneur Market has been HUGE for us!
CEM: Do you have any advice for other kids who want to become entrepreneurs?
Running a business can be challenging, but it’s also rewarding and fun. I’m glad we tried it out and encourage other kids to do the same. I’ve learned so much from this experience, and I believe that if we can do it, anyone can!”
CEM: How can potential customers get in touch with you?
