We saw Levi’s Workshop at two separate markets in the Dallas area this year, and we were very impressed with the quality of his products! Read our interview with this hardworking young entrepreneur below:
CEM: Tell us about your business. How did you first get the idea?
Levi: I make wooden cutting boards and serving boards. They come in different shapes and sizes. I take special orders and requests for different kind of boards, wood types, and sizes. I got inspiration from my dad, he has done many woodworking projects in his life. He taught me how to start making my own projects and items.
CEM: What supplies and resources did you need to get going? How did you get a hold of them?
Levi: I needed different kinds of hardwoods, glue, and tools to start. My dad and I bought things at Home Depot and at a special wood supply company. We also get some of our wood from a cabinet shop, they let us take their scrap wood and extra wood.
CEM: What are some challenges you’ve faced in business, and how did you overcome them?
Levi: Some challenges have been creating new designs on my boards. Some designs and shapes don’t work well and I end up having to restart until I find one that works out. Making these boards is not easy, it takes many hours to cut, drill, sand, and finish the boards.
CEM: Do you have any advice for other aspiring kid entrepreneurs?
Levi: Always be willing to work hard and try out new ideas. Always take care of your customers, giving them your attention and service.
CEM: How can potential customers get in touch with you?
Levi: Potential customers can email my dad with their orders. His email address is jmatve@gmail.com.
Thank you for interviewing with us, Levi! We wish you the best with your business, and we hope to see you at another market soon!
