Meet 7-year-old Vivaan, a regular CEM participant in the DFW! His business, Samosa Place, is always a huge hit with customers. We were excited to interview him and learn more about his business!
CEM: Tell us about your business. How did you first get the idea?
Vivaan: My mom loves to host friends and family with tasty Samosas and I love them too! I thought, “Why not share this deliciousness with everyone?
CEM: What supplies and resources did you need to get going? How did you get a hold of them?
Vivaan: I needed ingredients for the samosas, the mint cilantro chutney, serving boxes, napkins, and an air fryer. My parents get everything from an Indian store and a wholesale club.
CEM: What are some challenges you’ve faced in business, and how did you overcome them?
Vivaan: I needed to learn to balance the spice level and cater it to different taste buds. I also needed to let customers know of ingredients and potential allergens. To overcome this I print all ingredients and put them on display so customers can read it and decide on their own. The time taken to prepare everything is also a challenge. After multiple events we came up with a proper process.
CEM: Do you have any advice for other aspiring kid entrepreneurs?
Vivaan: If you love something, turn it into a business. Whether it’s slime, samosas, or sparkly shoelaces! Don’t worry about grown-up stuff. Just go for it. You’re a mini superhero! When people taste your samosas (or whatever you make), their smiles are like golden sprinkles.
CEM: How can potential customers get in touch with you?
Vivaan: Find me at the park, near the swings. I’ll be the one with a samosa in each hand. Or ask my mom—she’ll know where to find the samosa kid!
Congrats on all of your success so far, Vivaan! We hope to see you at another market soon!
