Colorado siblings Andrew, Charis, Wyatt, and Liam own The Watkins

We caught up with the Watkins siblings, Andrew, Charis, Wyatt, and Liam, at one of our markets in Colorado this summer! Here’s what they had to say about operating their business, The Watkins’ Bakery!

CEM: Tell us about your business. How did you first get the idea?

WB: We all like baking, and think baking is fun! We got the idea from our Pop, who has his own bakery, and we all enjoy baking together.

CEM: What supplies and resources did you need to get going? How did you get a hold of them?

WB: We needed baking ingredients, packaging boxes, tables, and our canopy. Our mom and dad helped us purchase the items, and we paid them back throughout different markets.

CEM: What are some challenges you’ve faced in business, and how did you overcome them?

WB: We’ve had some challenges like people ignoring us, or people having gluten allergies. We’ve overcome these challenges by asking questions to our customers and giving out samples.

CEM: Do you have any advice for other aspiring kid entrepreneurs?

WB: Our advice for other kid entrepreneurs is to give out samples, be joyful, SMILE, and sometimes lower your prices.

CEM: How can potential customers get in touch with you?

WB: Potential customers can visit other Colorado children’s markets. We don’t make products to order yet.

We wish these * sweet * kiddos the best of luck with their baking business!
