We met Presley, 14, and Derrick, 12, in Arizona this season! Their freeze-dried treats have been a huge hit, and we loved seeing them participate in so many of our markets!
Tell us about your business. How did you first get the idea?
Our family has had a freeze drier for a while, and we would just try different things to see how they were. Then we tried candy and found out that it was so good and decided that we should sell it. When we found out about Children’s Entrepreneur Market, we knew we should go there first.
What supplies and resources did you need to get going? How did you get a hold of them?
Our parents buy our supplies in bulk, and we pay them back out of our earnings. We try different candies all the time and take the ones that are the best to market.
What are some challenges you’ve faced in business and how did you overcome them?
Freeze dried candy is very delicate. We have to be super careful not to crush it or ruin it before we get it to market. After one market, we didn’t strap down our bins with the extra candy very well and the whole bin flew out of our truck and much of it got ruined.
Do you have any advice for other aspiring kid entrepreneurs?
Be good at interacting with people walking by at the market. Say Hi or compliment them. It makes the market more fun and also brings people in to talk to you. And people LOVE samples!
How can potential customers get in touch with you?
Come see us at the Buckeye Christmas Market on 12/16! (We interviewed Presley and Derrick near the end of last year, but you can still shop with them at another market in 2024!)
