"We wanted to make some money, and we’re always trying to start little businesses like bake sales...

Nikolai, 6, is a young 3D printing enthusiast! We met him at our market in Johns Creek, Georgia recently and just loved talking with him about his business! We hope you will too!

CEM: Tell us about your business. How did you first get the idea?
Nikolai: I wanted a 3D printer, and after I got one I loved it so much that I wanted to make things to sell. So I started creating and then decided to make a business.

CEM: What supplies and resources did you need to get going? How did you get ahold of them?
Nikolai: I needed the 3D printer, many different filaments–picking out all the colors was fun! I also needed supplies for packaging all of my products. My mom helped me out with the packaging and displays for my booth.

CEM: What are some challenges you’ve faced in business, and how did you overcome them?
Nikolai: Putting things in the packaging is sometimes hard for me. I also had to decide if things were too delicate and would break in the process of trying to sell them. Once I was at the market today, the biggest challenge has been the wind and also getting customers to come over to my booth from the aisles. I try to start a conversation with people walking by, and get them interested in my business. Once a customer is looking around, I make sure to answer their questions and be friendly.

CEM: Do you have any advice for other aspiring kid entrepreneurs?
Nikolai: Start with some money (my mom helped me get started)! You also need to have a good business idea. Then you need to work really hard and not give up!

CEM: How can potential customers get in touch with you?
Nikolai: For custom orders you can send me an email nikolai.parkes@gmail.com
