We met Raymond on a Saturday in Tucson, AZ, where he participated in not one, but TWO markets in the same day! We were so impressed with his steady stream of customers, we just had to find out more about his business!

CEM: Tell us about your business. How did you first get the idea?

Raymond: Well I was thinking about ways I could make money without using my parents’ money, so I was thinking of ideas and I thought “what if I just sell chips?” Kids at school get bored of the same snacks, so I wanted to try my own thing.

CEM: Why did you make the switch from chips to candies?

Raymond: Because kids really like desserts like candy a lot!

CEM: What supplies and resources did you need to get going? How did you get ahold of them?

Raymond: I just had to get a bunch of different kinds of gummies. I started with gummy rings first, it was doing okay. But when I started mixing it with different kinds it started working better. I get the candies from stores, we do Walmart pick up.

CEM: What are some challenges you’ve faced in business, and how did you overcome them?

Raymond: At school I’m not allowed to sell. Some kids copy me but that’s okay because people still come to me.

CEM: Do you have any advice for other aspiring kid entrepreneurs?

Raymond: Start with chips because chips are the best sellers! Then you can move up to things like drinks.

CEM: How can potential customers get in touch with you?

You can reach Raymond on his Facebook page or if you’re a close friend you can send him a text!

CEM: Is there anything else you’d like to share about your business?

Raymond: I really enjoy doing this, it’s fun! Sometimes I buy video games with my money, but I also reinvest about 20% into my business.

It was a pleasure meeting you, Raymond! We hope to see you at another market soon!
