Izabella, 11, owns More Than Just Jewelry in Michigan! We met her at a market this season and chatted with her about her business.
CEM: Tell us about your business. How did you first get the idea?
I got started by watching my grandma and mom make jewelry and decided I wanted to do the same thing. I look up to them and wanted to be my own boss so I used some of my Christmas and birthday money that I had saved. Then, I started adding to my mom and grandma’s orders for supplies by picking things out that I liked to work with.
CEM: What are some challenges you’ve faced in your business and how did you overcome them?
Some of my biggest challenges that I’ve faced are breaking through my anxiety, talking to people and figuring out my prices while considering the cost of material and design. This was my first summer being a young entrepreneur and I loved it!
CEM: Do you have any advice for aspiring kid entrepreneurs?
My biggest advice for other entrepreneurs is to put yourself out there and eat before the shows so you’re not cranky and smile. 😊
Some very sound advice from this young entrepreneur! We hope to see you at another market soon, Izabella!
